Default The Science behind the Fiery Dragon Sword

So This morning I Woke Up, And It just dawned on me How the FDS Would *technically* Be Possible.

Lets Look At this Thing:

More Specifically The Alkali Metels.

Lithium Li
Sodium N
Potassium K
Rubidium Rb
Cesium Cs
Francium Fr

They All Have One thing In Common: The React Violently with Water Ie: Burst into Flames / Explode (You should see it) (the more you move down, the more violent the reaction) So Much so that they need to be covered in a thick oil incase here is too much humidity in the air.

So It is Possible that the linning of the FDS is made from one of these metals. But how does it work? And, Which one?

Right away we can eliminate Lithium, Censium And Francium.

Lithium does not occur freely in nature (Needs to be combined electrolically), Censium is a Liquide Metal and Allthought Francium does occur in nature, its not only Radioactive and Liquide but also there is no more the an ounce of it anywhere in the crust of the earth at any given moment.

Runner Ups:

Sodium
Potasium
Rubidium

Sodium is the 4th Most Abundent Metal On earth, But must be isoleted electrolically From Sodium Chloride (Table Salt) Or Sodium bromid. (Intresting Fact, Sodium And Chlorean, if injested are fatel, combined together = Table Salt)

Sodium Does Ignite on contact with water, but not below 115°C, Or unless there is a lot of oxide (oxygen). So we Can Eliminate this one.

Potasium: 7th Most Abundent Element on earth, It can be found in ancient dry lake / sea beds (Crystal Desert?) It Reacts instantly with water, but decomposes and oxidises Rapidly. It must be kept in an oil to prevent ignition due to the Humidity in the air. However the flame is Violet.

Lets keep this one as a "Maybe"

Rubidium: 16th most Abundent Element on earth, Available from almost the same sources as Potasium (Ancient Dry Lake / Sea beds) It Ignites apon contact with Air and water.

So it seems that Potasium and Rubidium are the most plausible source of the FDS's Flame, It could even be a composit (If they are feasable Together, I'm not sure) But They can both be found in The Crystal Desert and Elona As it used to be a Sea.

However, Those metals are very soft, almost Liquide, So the Core of both FDS Forks would have to be Steel or Iron with A Rb or K linning. Which wouldn't be a problem seeing as they can already mine, extract and manupilate Rb and K.

Also those metals decompose rather fast to create the flame, but seeing as they can Spontaniously Spawn An infite amount of arrows from literly Thin air, keeping X amount of those metals on a Sword seems entirly Plausible.

Also you will notice the bright red / orange colour of the forks on the FDS, Which is entirly possible seeing as Rb and K burn Very hot.

And thats how the FDS works.

Seeing as it is taking way to long for the "Edit" button to work:

You will note that the Flame does not originate from the base of the FDS but rather the forks themselves:

And as far as I can remember Rubidium does burn With an Orange / Golden Colour, but it would not produce the Soft flames as oserved, it sparks violently, So a Compond with Potasium is more Likely seeing as K produces a [very fast] flame.

Lol, its just me, I do all my thinking Within the 2-3 Minutes between Dreamland and being Fully Awake in bed and between 1 - 3 o'clock in the monring. (Which happens to be the time where I get all my 90ies on essays)

Why thank you, You've just Single handidly Killed the Topic. Instead of just sittnig there I came apon a reasonably plausible explaination that I wanted to share with the community for Fun, and You just killed it. If you are looking for Respect, start using Capital Letters.

I am not a Star Trek Fan or anything, (I don't even watch it) but iof people just stood there and Didn't start thinking We Would not have:

MRI
Cell phone
Automated Doors
Mac's Windows System (Which was stolen by Microsoft)

And Much More which originated from Watching Star Trek.

Besides, I'm not shallow like you, so don't ruin it for others.

Very nice. lol I usually end up thinking right before i go to bed, that makes it fun as well. And the icy dragon sword is probably just ice or dry ice which causes the smoke to emit from it.

I forgot, Either Sodium or Lithium Reacts With Dry ice (Solid Air)

So there you go.

LOL both wrong, I searched, it's Cesium, and it reacts with just "ice" At temperatures above -120°C

And Lithium Can Produce A bright White Flame, If it burns stongly enough, or else its Crimison red.

Why can't IDS be Magnesium? Because you must first ignite it, Lithium can Ignite on its own if there is enough Oxygen.

lol Exactly, Dry ice is Air So Cold its Solid, The Smoke is evaporatnig Air, So Dry ice is Always under Expantion, which is Why you can not place it ni any closed compartment... it will make it go "Boom" (www.youtube.com Search Mentos Diet Coke)
